LO: To learn some of the spelling rules for pluralising nouns

In order to turn a noun into a plural, we need to know the spelling rules!

Rule 1:

If the singluar noun ends in an '-s', '-ch', '-sh', '-x' or a '-z', then you need to add '-es' to the end of the word.

e.g. fox - foxes

Try it with these words:

church -
box -
guess -
brush -
match -

Can you think of your own?

Rule 2

If the singluar noun ends in an '-f' or '-fe', then you need to remove the f/fe and add '-ves' to the end of the word.

e.g. wolf - wolves

Try it with these words:

leaf-
elf -
life -
knife -

Can you think of your own?
