St Cuthbert's 'Tashuary'

Calling all male community members – join us in ‘Tashuary’!

During February 2019, we will be fundraising for ‘Tiny Lives’. ‘Tiny Lives’ is a charity that supports ‘special care’ babies and their families. For more information read the attached sheet or visit

Recently, Mrs Clarke’s and Mrs Wheatley’s family needed the support of ‘Tiny Lives’ when their grandsons were born prematurely. Many families within our community have also relied on the support of this charity in the past. We would like to show our appreciation to the charity by raising money.

 What’s the catch?

  • Mr Bright and Mr Dodds will be growing moustaches for the whole of February (now known as ‘Tashuary’). We would like the children and families to sponsor us. Please give any donations to our school office or via our Just Giving page:
  • The school will be taking part in a ‘Tash Day’ when the children can bring in or make a moustache to wear for the day in school for a small donation.
  • Finally, we would like the male community members to join us in growing moustaches and collect their own sponsorship. We will be inviting those that have participated in ‘the growth’ to pop into school, get their picture taken and reveal the total amount raised.
  • Sponsorship forms are available from your class teacher, school office and school website if you wish to participate in the event.

‘Tash Day’ will be on Friday 1st March 2019 and we will invite all those who have grown moustaches into school for a photo opportunity and a chance to share how much we have raised in sponsorship. Please feel free to send photos into school using: which we will share on our Facebook page.

In conjunction with our school and community, English Martyrs in Fenham and St Aloysius in Hebburn will also be doing some form of fundraising for ‘Tiny Lives’.

Please give generously and please encourage others to join us. A major strength of our school is the fantastic community it is in!

Amy from Tiny Lives came to collect the huge cheque (in both senses) from our fantastic community. She told us what the money would go towards and showed us a miniature nappy! Well done and thank you for all the amazing support.
