Messages from Staff
Dear Families and Friends of St Cuthbert’s,
At the beginning of Week 5 of our school ‘closure’, I have been thinking about all the different ways we, as teachers, have had to adapt to new methods of working at home. This has been an even more dramatic change for our parents, carers and children. So, to all of the everyday heroes keeping their families safe and working at home with their children, I wanted to take the opportunity to say again what an amazing job you’re doing supporting your child’s well-being and learning at home during this incredibly difficult time. This situation is not easy for any of us but I know, like me, you will be doing the very best that you can.
It is definitely a challenging time but please remember we are here for you every step of the way as we figure this all out together. If you have any concerns about helping your child learn or you need any other support from the school, please let us know by emailing your child’s teacher or the school admin email – all of these details are on our school website in the Learning at Home section. We also have a member of the office staff in school every morning and a member of the Senior Leadership Team in school every day if you have any concerns or worries and need to speak directly to a member of staff.
We love seeing what the children are getting up to at home so please keep sharing through our social media pages. We thought it would be a wonderful idea to keep these memories as part of the history of St Cuthbert’s so we are saving each and every photograph shared so that we can produce a snapshot of the lives of the children of St Cuthbert’s during COVID – 19. This will be something we can look back on as a time when our school stood united in adversity; something we can be proud of and something positive we have achieved together in such unprecedented and challenging times.
We very much appreciate everything you are doing at home but again, please remember that the Learning at Home packs and all of the resources on our website are there to dip into as and when you need to and to provide a little bit of structure to your day and focus for your child’s learning. In school, we are continuing with our emergency childcare provision and dipping into the home learning packs and website resources as we see fit.
There is a great deal of work still going on either physically in school or with staff working at home. I would sincerely like to thank and commend each member of our school team who have worked tirelessly to keep the vital work of our school going. I am profoundly grateful for everything the team have done and continue to do no matter what their role in school is. Our school website is proving to be a Godsend during this time. New additions this week have been My Local Area Home Learning Packs and accompanying Liturgies, BBC Bitesize and the Department for Education’s Oak National Academy Virtual School. Please use any of the resources, activities and websites as you see fit.
We are very much looking forward to everything returning to ‘normal’ and have some tentative plans in place for when this happens and it is safe to do so. We cannot wait to open the gates of St Cuthbert’s and welcome our families and children in once again.
Stay safe and take care of each other.
Mrs Bullerwell and the Team of St Cuthbert’s
