Week 2 Challenge1
 
On my walk in the woods I came across this enormous ant hill. Could you find out what ants like to eat, do ants sleep and can ants tell if they’re from a different ant hill? 
Week 2 - Daily Challenge 2
 
Here are 2 of my favourite flowers. They are both types of peonies. Your challenge is to design and draw, paint or make your own flowering plant. It can be as imaginative as possible.
Week 2- Daily Challenge 3
 
Mr Clarke made a delicious pizza for tea! He cut it equally into 16 pieces. Before I could shout ‘cheese’ he had eaten half of it. Then he gave Bex another quarter. How many pieces were left for me? 
Week 2- Daily Challenge 4
 
For lunch make a delicious sandwich. Afterwards take a picture or draw your sandwich and label the parts. Then write a set of instructions explaining how to make your sandwich. Remember to begin your instructions with an imperative verb ( bossy) and include some ambitious adjectives too.

Week 3 - Daily Challenge 1
 
Choose one of your favourite books and read a few pages. Once you have finished reading see if you can find and write down words that are:
 
NOUNS      ADJECTIVES    VERBS      ADVERBS    and see what different types of punctuation you can find too!
Week 4 - Daily Challenge 2
 
On Easter Sunday, Mr Clarke made me a delicious chocolate Easter cake. He used 3 eggs and then equal amounts of flour, sugar and butter. The total amount of flour, butter and sugar was 750g. 
 
How much did he need for each of these ingredients.
 
Remember to use bar modelling to help work this out!

Improve these simple sentences by adding more ambitious adjectives, verbs and adverbs.
 
1. The girl drank some juice.
 
2. The sun was out for the day.
 
3. The boy put his toe into the sea.
 
4. Mrs Clarke dried her eyes.

First make a list of vocabulary for these senses linked to the images. Then write it into sentences including conjunctions to joins information together. Send some to me via the Year 2 email...can’t wait to read some.

Thing about all of things you do have and make a list.
Circle 5 things that you think are the most important in your life ...that really make a difference to you and the person you are.
 
Create a poster with those 5 words or things that you have chosen. They can be as big and bold as you like, add decorations or little drawings that show what the words mean. MAKE SURE YOU DISPLAY THIS POSTER SOMEWHERE THAT YOU CAN SEE EVERY DAY TO HELP YOU BE TAHNKFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE RIGHT NOW!

Long, long, ago there stood an ancient stone school that was home to families of talented witches and adventurous wizards. The magical school was carefully built beside the deep, cold waters of the Black Lake and it was believed to contain a life changing plant that could heal all serious wounds. During the night, flames flickered and shone through the carved windows which showed the approaching wooden boats where to land. 
 
Read the setting description and identify all of the nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs.

Hi everyone, I hope you had a great weekend celebrating VE Day with your family. I have a challenge for you ...as you know my favourite drink is coffee and last week I had 7cups of coffee in one day...too many I know sorry. Each cup holds 150ml of water. How much water did I drink that day?
 
my extra challenge is this ...
the kettle holds 1000ml or 1 litre of water. Could I have used 1 kettle full to fill my 7 cups of coffee or would I have needed more? Explain your working out and reasons.
