Advent and Christmas
It's been a really busy couple of weeks at St Cuthbert's!
We have had sing-a-long celebrations in Nursery; a fabulous nativity led by Reception and Key Stage 1; a beautiful Carols by Candlelight service held in the church led by Years 3 & 4 and a full scale musical production of 'A Christmas Carol' led by Year 5 & 6!
A huge thank you to Lynne Wilmot - one of our wonderful parents - who runs First Act Theatre Company. Ms Wilmot kindly let us borrow a whole host of props and costumes for our performance of 'A Christmas Carol' and the children looked incredible! She also arranged for one of the First Act team to come and run some workshop sessions across the school. The children have loved them. We are so lucky to have such fabulous support in our school!
Many thanks to all the parents who helped their children learn their lines for the nativities, Carol Services and 'A Christmas Carol'. The children did amazingly and we are very proud of them all!
We have finished off our term with a whole school liturgy led by our teachers. It was really nice to listen to the message of Christmas as well as being the ones to tell it.
This week, we have been continuing our work on Remembrance Day, starting with a liturgy prepared by The Chaplaincy team. We gathered into the liturgy listening to Year 5 sing the song, 'The Green Fields of France' before listening to a scripture reading chosen by some members of the team. Representatives from each class brought up examples of work and we all had a chance to reflect on the importance of Remembrance Day. We watched a very inspiring video all about the importance of poppies and how they support people today. It was a very moving liturgy and we are very grateful to our fabulous Chaplaincy Team for providing us with the opportunity to reflect and pray together.
