Y1 enjoyed a fantastic trip to @Stmaryslight to see our beautiful coastline. We climbed up the steps to the very top of the lighthouse, found out about different lighthouse jobs, investigated the creatures in the rock pools and created sand art. What a brilliant experience!

Year 4 have been experimenting with primary and secondary colours this week in Art. We explored cool and warm tones and how they can help us create an atmosphere in our paintings.

In Computing Year 2 have been learning all about sending and receiving emails. Mrs Clarke sent Year 2 an email asking for help to find where her cake had disappeared to. Then they sent Mrs Clarke a reply email with this information.

We couldn’t believe it when the firefighters came to see us and brought the fire engine. We got to hold the water spray and sit in a real fire engine! We had to cover our ears when they put the siren on as it was so noisy.

As part of the @YourSchoolGames Award, a team of children took part in a Key Steps, Gymnastics competition. An absolutely fantastic result for our Year 3/4 and Year 4/5 teams, who came 2nd. Fabulous work St Cuthbert's. We are so proud of you all!

Year 5 are loving their history topic, The Anglo Saxons. This week they took part in a @nowpressplay session where they were young Anglo Saxons sent into exile. They have also played the role of archaeologists trying to work out clues from the burial site discovered at Sutton Hoo

It's back to school life for Y6 after our SATs. We've been finishing off an epic narrative based around Great Expectations - a monumental effort that other schools have been amazed by. We have also started a new history topic - Conflict Through Time.

Y3 really enjoyed visiting Kenton Library this week. We met Leanne, the librarian who told us all about the fantastic facilities the library has to offer and we listened to 'Detective Dog' by Julia Donaldson.

When the firefighters visited Nursery, everyone was very excited. As a class we all put on our high visibility jackets, held our adults’ hands and walked to our church to see the big, red fire engine. We all loved sitting in the fire engine and squirting the hose!

Year 4 have had a fantastic time celebrating the end of our Eucharist topic and the children who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who helped to prepare the children for this special celebration.
