The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch

We have had so much fun investigating the story of 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch'. We have made huge props and seagulls with moving wings to use outside to act out the story and thought about how Hamish the cat feels when he has to go in the basket! We wrote letters to Mrs Grinling to persuade her not to put him in. We have also been thinking about picnics and sharing out food so that everybody has the same amount, and sharing a bottle of juice to see how many cups we could fill! We learned about the differences between islands and cities and created our own versions using the small world resources outside. We talked about where we would rather live and why, reading the captions to match to the correct picture. We thought about the different kinds of transport you might need in different places and read the teddies' speech bubbles to find out what kind of transport we should make for them. What a busy time we've had!
